Every expectant mom spends countless hours trying to find the best and most needed items for her baby. I have compiled a list of what I found to be most useful. I spent more hours than I would like to admit researching what products were the best rated and safest for my baby. Hopefully this list will help you find what products may help you to most. So lets get into this....
1. Dockatot: This works for parents looking to cosleep or not. Either way the comfort this gives your baby makes it one of the absolute must haves. For sleeping or just so mom can get a shower the Dockatot stands alone and if you can afford one, is a must have.
2. Travel System: This is a nessesity for any new baby. I chose the Chicco Viaro Travel System, with the Keyfit 30 Infant Carrier. I used this everywhere we went in the first few months. Triton had so many doctor appointments and this system made getting him in and out of the office so much easier. This also helps in keeping your baby sheilded from germs and unwanted hands of well meaning strangers.
3. Video Monitor: I am the epitome of a helicopter parent. This being said I knew when I found out I was pregnant that I wanted a video monitor for Triton. Hearing my little man wasn't enough. I wanted to see how he was and I will tell you that even though they cost a bit more than the usual monitors, they are worth every penny for the peace of mind you get in return.
4. Wonder Weeks: This app has been amazing. It knows down to the day when your baby is going through developmental changes, and tells you what days and what your baby is learning. You get tips on how to help and milestones that your baby will reach in each leap. I don't know how we got by before the Wonder Weeks came along. It is $1.99 I think and worth it a hundred times over.
5. MamaRoo: 4Moms is the best at innovative baby products, and the MamaRoo is no exception. This was by far my favorite swing option for Triton. Compared to the other swings it requires far less space in your home, runs on AC power instead of batteries, and is quiet compared to the rest. This swing soothes my little man with gentle side to side motions. It does cost more than traditional swings, however if you go to Buy Buy Baby you can price match and use the 20% off coupon as well making it cost the same if not less than the other options.
6. Pack and Play: This has been used more than I ever thought it would be. Mine is the Graco with the changing table and bouncer seat. I use the changing table more times a day than I can count, and the bassinet part gives an easy spot to lay down Triton in the living room where he is close to me.
7. Muslin Swaddle Blankets: I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with swaddle blankets.... for the muslin ones I prefer the Aden and Anais when I am shopping the major retailers. My favorite isn't available in those stores though, and are by far the cutest and best quality I have found... Modern Burlap. These monochrome blankets are adorable and have the sweetest prints. They are all black and white and come in cute heros, cactus, and even meaningful bible verses. Best of all this small company was created by a mom just like the rest of us. She is sweet as can be and I love supporting another amazing Mama with my purchases.
8. Car Seat Cover: As a new parent we all want to sheild our tiny little newborns from germs when we have to take them out in public. No matter how much we would like to keep our precious babies at home for months and let no one anywhere near, we just simply can't do that. The next best thing is the cutest and softest car seat covers I have found. Copper Pearl makes adorable covers that keep out the elements as well as people who would want to touch your fragile baby. I also love the blankets to match as well and would recommend them for Mamas to use in the car seat for extra warmth in the winter.
9. Sleep Sack: Everywhere you look you will find sleep sacks and swaddle sacks by every brand and style. I like the Halo Sleepsacks, Swaddle Me Sacks, and the new Milk Snob Pouch. Triton doesn't like to have his arms confined when he sleeps and will fight until he breaks free. With the Milk Snob his arms can be free and still keep him warm and comfortable while he sleeps. They come in cute colors and are reversible as well. I love these myself.
10. Nose Freida: Every baby gets congested in the first few months, and a baby that cant breathe is a very unhappy baby. The snotsucker is a miracle worker, and no you cannot get anything in your mouth. The bulb syringes of the past were unsanitary and with the Frieda you can take apart and clean and sanitize every piece. It is absolutely worth $15.
11. Gripe Water: I would actually call this Miracle Water, whenever your baby gets fussy due to gas, upset stomach, or even hiccups Gripe Water is a must.
12. Changing Clutch: Mine is wonderful, it is by Skip Hop and I love it. I under no circumstances want to lay my boy on the dirty changing tables in most public restrooms, and this clutch makes it clean and easy to change him anywhere.
13. Dr. Brown's Mixing Pitcher & Options Bottles: With Triton I have to mix his formula for an entire day at a time, and mix it differently to add calories for him. The mixing pitcher makes this so much easier. In the same category the Options Bottles are amazing for kids with Hypotonia.
14. Bottle Warmer: This may be more of a luxury, but for our little guy I felt it was a must have. We chose the Dr. Brown's and it works great. I would recommend it over and over again.
15. Boon Drying System: I love my grass drying system. It fits all of my bottles and the mixing pitcher with ease. It is also very easy to clean and sanitize.
