Making The Switch To Natural Cruelty Free Cleaners

Once I came home from the NICU I may have become slightly obsessive about the house being clean, but all the chemicals around my little heart warrior worried me. So in true OCD mom fashion, I got on google, and researched what was safest to use around babies, and which products had the best reviews from fellow moms.  Then I went to YouTube, and there I found an entire community of moms who like me didn't want to use unnecessary chemicals around their little ones.  So I watched many videos, and listened to countless reviews to make my informed decision.  I then picked some brands to try and went to my local market to get all new cleaners.

I was so excited to start our new chemical free journey, and when I arrived at my local market I found that I was in for a struggle on this new path.  I had less than ten products to choose from locally, and that wasn't going to cut keeping my house spotless for my little man.  So I bought the few I could find, and went back home and did some more searching online.  Luckily I have to travel to a larger metropolitan area multiple times a month for doctor appointments, and there I was able to find every product I had been looking for.  I stopped in at Target and was amazed by the amount of natural and cruelty free cleaners they had available.  Needless to say I stocked up!

I bought the following products:

1. Mrs. Meyers Multi Surface Spray Lemon Verbana & Honeysuckle

I love this cleaner for most surfaces in my home. I use it in the kitchen daily, and on almost every surface throughout my house.  It not only smells amazing, it cleans even better than the harsh cleaners I had been using for years.  I can clean all day and never get the awful headaches I once did.  These are definite must haves in my cleaning arsenal, and they come in so many scents there is sure to be one for each and every one of you.

2. Mrs. Meyers Dish Soap in Lemon Verbana & Honeysuckle

Having to wash bottles multiple times a day meant I needed a soap that was safe for my baby and this one delivered in every way needed.  It cleans better than even that popular blue soap so many of us have used for years.  It gets formula off of every bit of the Dr. Brown's bottles that can be very hard to clean, and still works hard enough to cut the grease on pots and pans better than anything I had used before.  All the while it smells amazing and makes my kitchen smell like a field of honeysuckles, which I adore.

3. Mrs. Meyers Baking Soda Cleaner Lemon Verbana

For anyone with a glass cook top you know how hard it can be to clean off the cooked on food.  This cleaner makes it an easy task every time.  Not only does it make your stove sparkle, it is just abrasive enough to scrub your stainless sink and keep it fresh and clean after all of those dirty dishes.  I love the scent, and an added plus is it makes your fingernails white as well.

4. Mrs. Meyers Hand Soap in Lemon Verbana

With a new baby in the house I have to wash my hands more times than I can count in a day, and this soap not only cleans them, it also keeps them soft.  Just like the rest of the Mrs. Meyers line it comes in some amazing scents and you can easily find one that will soon be your favorite.

5.  Method Wood Floor Cleaner in Sweet Almond

I had searched for a wood floor cleaner that would clean yet not make my floor sticky.  I got lucky when I tried this, and I will never use anything else on my wood floors again.  Not only does it clean easily without rinsing, but it also smells so good and makes your whole home smell like sweet almond cookies.

6. Method Wood For Good Polish in Sweet Almond

This dusting spray is just as amazing as the floor cleaner.  It cleans and shines all of my wood furnishings and a bottle lasts forever.  The smell alone tops all other dusting polishes.

7.  Method Antibac Spray in Wildflower

Naturally with a baby you want to be able to kill germs to keep your baby safe, and the Antibac does this and smells amazing at the same time.  I use this on all of the forgotten surfaces in the house: doorknobs, light switches, faucet handles, remote controls, and appliance handles.  It kills germs and doesn't burn my eyes like traditional cleaners do.

8.  Method All Purpose Spray in Pink Grapefruit

First let me just say the smell of this is one of the best ever!! That being said it also cleans almost every surface in my house without any problem,  The smell is nice and energizing and I love that if I drop food on my counters I don't have to worry about chemicals from any cleaning residue.

9. Method Daily Shower Spray

I love this spray so very much, when you get done showering just spray the inside of the tub/shower and it eliminates the need to scrub your tub multiple times a week.  It works wonderfully and helps with the daily cleaning..

10. Method Antibac Toilet Cleaner in Spearmint

The strongest cleaner you need in your house is for the toilet, and this one does it without burning your eyes and putting harmful chemicals into the air.  Your toilet will be sparkling clean and your whole bathroom smells minty fresh.  I love this alternative to traditional bleach.

11. Method Glass Cleaner in Mint

Finally the cleaner that was hardest to find a chemical free version that actually works. We all know that blue spray that is full of ammonia but cleans and leaves a streak free window.  Well Method glass cleaner does the very same with all plant based ingredients.  The smell is wonderful as well

I have been using these products for a couple of months now and can fully attest that not only do they work, but I haven't had a headache from cleaning once since my switch.  I love that when I spray my surfaces I don't smell chemicals anymore. I smell a field of flowers, or a spring fruit.  I love how when I clean my floor it smells like sweet cookies baking.  I highly suggest that if you hate breathing in chemicals and the burning sinuses and headaches that come with it you should try these products for a clean home naturally!

Have a Blessed Day!!

Top 15 Newborn Must Haves

Every expectant mom spends countless hours trying to find the best and most needed items for her baby.  I have compiled a list of what I found to be most useful.  I spent more hours than I would like to admit researching what products were the best rated and safest for my baby.  Hopefully this list will help you find what products may help you to most.  So lets get into this.... 1.  Dockatot:  This works for parents looking to cosleep or not.  Either way the comfort this gives your baby makes it one of the absolute must haves.  For sleeping or just so mom can get a shower the Dockatot stands alone and if you can afford one, is a must have. 2. Travel System:  This is a nessesity for any new baby.  I chose the Chicco Viaro Travel System, with the Keyfit 30 Infant Carrier.  I used this everywhere we went in the first few months.  Triton had so many doctor appointments and this system made getting him in and out...

DOCKATOT, THE BEST BABY PRODUCT YOU NEVER KNEW YOU NEEDED

Best co sleeper For every new and expecting parent out there you all know or have heard about the dockatot. It is the breakout product of the last couple of years and in my opinion and experience it has been amazing. You can use this for co-sleeping which before I had the dockatot I was petrified of. Every new parent fears their baby goes to sleep and doesn't wake up and co-sleeping to me just heighten that fear. Then I found the dockatot. I contacted dockatot and told them that I would like to review their product to see if it was helpful with my baby and thankfully they agreed. From the first day that we got this it proved its worth. Not only does this product help your baby sleep through the night comfortably and safely in the bed with you, but it also doubles as a lounger and a play gym with the new toy bars that they've come out with. I had heard rave reviews from a hundreds of moms about what a magical product this was. I hoped that it would do just as well for us,...
